Broad Ripple IN

For me and my roommate, Sundays are for day trips. I’m a huge encourager of day trips. It’s one of the best ways to discover what’s already around you, and for the most part, it’s inexpensive. I’m all about both!

This Sunday we traveled to Broad Ripple, a quaint city neighborhood just north of Indianapolis and home to the famous Cake Bake Shop (which I still haven’t tried out lol). It’s the perfect spot for a few good hipsters. But really, it’s good for all: plenty of places to shop, an abundance of restaurants, and beautiful views from the canal.

If there’s one thing I’m good at, it’s shopping! How basic, right? Broad Ripple is home to many unique shopping sites, so I was in heaven. There are a few shops I highly recommend if you ever decide to visit this little town. First on my list is Broad Ripple Vintage. It has an overwhelming amount (in a good way) of vintage clothing and trinkets. If you haven’t guessed already, I’m a huge fan of anything vintage or retro. Sometimes it’s difficult to find affordable vintage, but they are always having some type of sale. Be sure to get out there when that happens! Second on my list is the Rusted Moon Outfitters. This is the perfect spot if you’re in need of anything outdoorsy. They have everything from clothing to canoes, and they make sure to put a unique twist on all of their items. See for yourself, Rusted Moon Outfitters. I swear I’ve had a bag from this store since I was in middle school, and I am still using it today. This stuff lasts!

If you’re in need of a good taco, I’d recommend trying out Monon Food Company. They have an array of options that won’t disappoint any taco lover (I’m serious, they even have vegan options). I’ll be going back soon! For dessert, we stopped at the well-known ice cream shop, BRICS. I’m the type of girl who won’t ever pass up on ice cream, so the fact that this place is usually crowded and cramped didn’t bother me a bit. It was well worth it. Plus, crowding is a good sign, right?

As for coffee, which is always a must, there are still places I would like to go back and try out. Unfortunately, our first choice of coffee shop closed early that Sunday, so we were forced to trek down the street to the next closest source of caffeine. We ended up at Monon Coffee, a fine choice for any coffee drinker. The location of this shop was a bit more convenient as it was located centrally, so it was a perfect place to start our walk on the canal.

Day tripper with my little side kicker.

Whether you’re shopping downtown or running through the trails of the canal, the views in Broad Ripple are so beautiful. The city is nicely kept, and everyone is always out and about. That’s what I like the most about Broad Ripple – there’s so much to do! On nice days like the day I visited, the trails, shops, and restaurants are all swimming with people of all ages. I hope you all consider taking some time (just a day!) to visit this one. Thanks for reading! Goodbye for now.
